Whether you are interested in joining one of our Creek-Cleanups or donating supplies to help out, we’d love to hear from you. The big-hearts of 3 kids got this started, and we’d be glad to enroll you on the journey!
The main ways that we know most people could help would be:
- Helping collect trash and litter along the creek. You can join one of our Creek-Cleanups or just bring along a trash bag the next time you go fishing or exploring and take a load out of the creek with you when you go.
- Document the beauty and wildlife that you see, and share it on your own social accounts or with friends. You can also send photos to
photos@heltoncreek.orgthat we can share for you, or via our Instagram account, @Helton.Creek. - Donate supplies or services – we aren’t setup to take financial donations. We have great partners who help provide services and supplies that keep our costs down, but we could always use more help.
Speaking of great partners, we’d like to thank the people and organizations who help make this possible:
- Specialty Testing provides our water quality data from samples collected by volunteers. Knowing things like nitrate/nitrite levels, the amount of dissolved lead/arsenic/etc, and the bacterial load help us know how to help.
- Water Secure for donating the trash bags and hazardous material handling supplies. They also happen to offer free water testing and filtering supplies to Ashe County residents!
- Ashe Candle has provided breakfast for our Creek-Cleanups and the necessary sugar and caffeine to get started in the mornings.
